Director of Persons with Lived Experience (PLEX) Engagement

Kevin brings 40+ years of lived experience of SCI to the role of Director of PLEX Engagement leading a skilled and dedicated team of individuals with lived SCI experience to ensure the involvement of Persons with Lived Experience in all aspects of Praxis’ activities.

Kevin had a successful career as a “serial entrepreneur” with a range of ventures including mobile disc jockey entertainment, concert promotions, advertising, publishing, junior hockey franchise ownership, coach bus operations, real estate and sports equipment sales.

Kevin served 8 years as an MLA and Speaker of House in Nova Scotia where he played a key role in the creation and passing of Nova Scotia’s Accessibility Act and founded the Commonwealth Parliamentarians with Disabilities Network to support and promote persons with disabilities to seek elected office internationally. Kevin recently spent 4 years as the senior policy advisor to Canada’s Federal Minister responsible for persons with disabilities, and played a key role in the creation of the landmark Canada Disability Benefit.
